Michael Gilbert is one of the founders of the National Association of Community and Restorative Justice (NACRJ) and has served as its executive director since June 2013. He is also an associate professor of criminal justice at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Prior to his work with NACRJ and UTSA he worked as a corrections practitioner with the U. S. Naval Disciplinary Command, United States Army Disciplinary Barracks, Alaska Department of Corrections and Arizona Department of Corrections. He also worked as a consultant to criminal justice systems. In all he has nearly 50 years of justice related experience.
